Welcome Greensboro Residents

WirelessVT Solutions is happy to announce that Phase 1 installs are currently happening, and Phase 2 is  now completed.  There are now 8 available points.  If you can see one of these eight locations, you are eligible for internet service at this time.  Phase three should be complete by mid-August.  By the end of phase three, we estimate approximately seventy-five percent of Greensboro will be able to access the internet.  The remainder of the area will be evaluated starting in August.

As you may have heard, WirelessVT Solutions Wireless High-Speed Internet is Now Up and Running!  The service is $40 per month with a 1-year contract, with no setup fee.  However, there is equipment to purchase.  The exact equipment that will be needed for your home can only be determined during installation.  The maximum equipment cost will be $200 with the possibility of equipment significantly less, depending on the visibility to one of the eight points, and your distance from the point.  If you are a part-time resident and do not want to sign a 1-year contract, the monthly fee is $60 with no term contract, but we need a 30-day termination notification and in addition to the hardware, there is a connection fee of $15 every time you "turn-on" the service, and a disconnect fee of $40 of you fail to notify us 30 days in advance.

Please take a moment to look for one of the eight points.  If you can see one, you can call us for internet now.  Everyone please fill out our form below to let us know what you can see, as well as the other information we request.  We will take your information and will contact those of you who cannot see points in the current phase when the next phase goes live.  You are not committing to anything by contacting us now.  We need to know where you are to best determine the next phase Access Points.

Please click on the point number for pictures of the eight points. The names we use to identify the points and locations are listed below. The pictures open in a new window. The pictures are large. Here is a Map for identifying the point locations.

Point 1:   Stannard Mountain, the large field you see below the second peak from the right
Point 2:   414 Edsall Hill, the Breen home.  It is on the far left of the field and is the only Grey house.
Point 3:   Town Hall, 81 Lauredon Ave
Point 4:   United Church of Christ, the Bell Tower
                Point 5:   96 Wilson St. – ----- DOWN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE -----
Point 6:   61 East Street – Big Red House at the beginning of The Bend Road, The Mackins
Point 7:   Opposite 1131 Craftsbury Road, at the end of "The Grays Drive" – Clive Gray's Rental Home on
top of the hill, "The Eyrie" - Here is another picture giving a larger view of the area. Finally, a picture for the people in Walden - This was taken from Orton Road and shows that you can see the Church, Town Hall and The Eyrie, all are possible access points for connection.
Point 8:   Cook Hill – Big Brown House with a deck on each side of the house. There is a small Maple tree almost centered on the house. There is a large white covered structure to the right (North East) of the house (but it cannot be seen in this picture). This picture was taken from The Highland Lodge. It is not the lower house with the large TV antenna on the roof. This point is ONLY intended for people North of Black's Point and Burlington Point, but you do not have to be on the lake. People south of the lake will not be able to connect to it. Here is a closeup of the house.

As a reference, if you are on the south side of the lake, you should be looking for one of the points in town (3, 4, 5, 6, 7) if you can see the lake, or look North for Edsall Hill (2), or Stannard Mountain if you cannot see the lake.  If you are on the east side of the lake, you should be looking for any of the town points or point 2 or 8, or Stannard Mountain.  If you are on the north side of the lake, you should be looking for any point.  If you are west of the lake, if you can see the lake, you are looking for the Church or The Eyrie.  If you cannot see the lake, you are looking for Stannard Mountain.  If you are north and cannot see the lake or Stannard Mountain, you are not part of phase one or two.  If you are west and cannot see the lake, you are looking for Stannard Mountain. If you are in Walden, Stannard or East Hardwick, you are looking for points 1 or 7 - realize the view of point 7 from Walden is quite different from the photo, but point 7 is highly visible from Walden and Stannard.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When we say "See", that's what we mean.  If there are trees between you and an access point and you can't "see" the antenna, then you cannot "see" the access point.  If you are within 500 feet of an access point, you don't have to see it.  For example, if you live on Church lane, you are close enough to the church that you don't have to see it.  If you are going across the lake, there can be a tree between you and the access point.  If you are going to Stannard Mountain, there must be a clear view to the mountain.

Please note that in order for more than one computer to access the internet in your location, your computers NEED to be networked.  WirelessVT Solutions will happily connect our equipment to a router or gateway you may have if you have a network, and will assist in configuring that router during installation free of charge.  But, you MUST have a gateway if more than one computer is to access the internet.  These routers run approximately $50 from Staples, Best Buy, & Circuit City.  WirelessVT Solutions will have these devices available and will sell them at cost to you on the day of the installation if you need one, but you must indicate above if you need one.  This item is not included in the hardware equipment mentioned above.  As far as networking the equipment, this is not something we cover as part of the setup service.  If you have wireless cards and purchase a wireless router instead of the normal router, we will setup that wireless router, but you will be charged for our time to configure your computers to talk to your wireless router.  You may also purchase the wireless cards from us.  We usually have them at a better rate than the large retail chains, but you must indicate you need them as we will not be bringing extras during installation.
